Totaling 184,000 SF, this design-build teaching facility is located at the UW Northwest Campus and stands as a forward-thinking solution to the mental health crisis, increasing capacity for patients and critical workforce training. The six-story patient-centered facility adds 150 patient beds designed specifically for patients facing both acute mental health and acute medical concerns. Additionally, this facility contains a neuromodulation suite serving both inpatient and outpatient needs and telepsychiatry consultation rooms. Offices and workrooms are also located within the facility to support graduate medical education. These are multi-use conference spaces with food services including kitchen, and server dining spaces to support the entire UWMC Northwest campus.

To bridge gaps between the VDC team and onsite constructability constraints, our team uses a multi-level review and approval process that incorporates input from the field prior to fabrication production, reducing onsite installation issues.


Close collaboration with end user groups
To help determine the right balance of robust options with simple, effective solutions, VECA utilized box walks, mock ups, and thoughtful conversations with end users.
Significant Technologies scope and installation
Installation included CAT6A cabling along with fiber/copper backbone and multiple IDF/E-IDF buildouts, OSP campus fiber tie-ins, as well as DAS / Sound Masking systems.
